Perfection is the willingness to be imperfect.
– Lao-Tzu from The Tao of Sudoku: Yoga for the Brain
Where did the illusion of perfection come from? Perhaps the abstract perfect from ancient Greek philosophy. I remember Plato’s concept of the perfect chair as being that to which we aspire from a long ago philosophy class.
The challenge with our modern concepts of perfection is that it is static. There is nothing static in the Univese. One of its main constants is change. No wonder so many of us stress out about being perfect. It’s impossible beyond a single moment of now.
We have the chance to be perfect now. In the next moment, we know and have experienced more so we have a new perfect. Today’s perfection is tomorrow’s imperfection.
Why not just call every moment perfect in its imperfections and relax?
